April 27, 2007

The annual Razor Awards for best Czech metal albums of the year have been handed out. Winners include FORGOTTEN SILENCE, PALADRAN and DEBUSTROL.

A concert and an award giving ceremony took place at the Faval Club in Brno, Czech Republic on April 21. The 6th annual Razor (Britva) Awards were given away to best metal acts of 2006.

Over fifty selected journalists from most of Czech printed (Spark, Rock a pop, Report) and online (Abysszine, Fobiazine, Freemusic) magazines focusing on metal, hardcore and punk music cast a ballot in the poll. The major award of the evening — for the best metal recording of the year — went to art metallers FORGOTTEN SILENCE for their "Kro Ni Ka" CD, while to runners-up included DARK GAMBALLE and SAD HARMONY, all bands currently signed under Redblack label, which won the "Company of the Year" award.

A special edition of the CD "Relic Dances" (winner of the 2004 Razor),called "The Lonely", sung in Czech and Polish by ethno-metallers SILENT STREAM OF GODLESS ELEGY, won the award for "Best Special Edition Album". The "Best Mini-Album" of 2006 is PALADRAN's "Nodfyr".

The "Best Debut" of 2006, according to voting journalists, is prog-thrashers SCENERY's "Continuity", the "Best DVD" was released by the legendary DEBUSTROL and is appropriately called "Twenty Years of Absolute Massacre" (XX let totalniho masakru).

The Prague gig featuring SATYRICON and KEEP OF KALESSIN was voted as the "Gig of the Year" and the 11th edition of the Brutal Assault festival was the winner of the "Festival of the Year" category.
